University Project 5- Literature Review: Essential Oils for Plant Wellbeing

Introduction

In the United Kingdom (UK), farmers, greenkeepers and turf managers are educated on utilising the best management practices that protects the well-being of the turfgrass whilst also ensuring that the environment is ecologically sustainable (Siems, 2007). This is done by following the Integrated Pest Management (IPM) approach, which primarily aims to optimise pest control in a way that is both ecologically and economically sound. Strategy principles include integrating cultural, mechanical, biological and chemical techniques to control plant pests, and only using pesticides as a last resort when all other techniques have failed.
